Isn’t it nice to see the beauty of the earth? The sky above and the earth below, the mountains high and the valleys low. Have you ever wondered why God created them all? I once thought it was simply just for humans to enjoy and then worship the Lord, not until I found something on the fifth day of creation.
And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”
Genesis 1:20-23 NIV
So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”
And there was evening, and there was morning —the fifth day.
The secret realms
Throughout generations, humans have not yet discovered all bird species on Earth. From the species we recognize in this modern era, to the mythical birds whose stories might have been derived from real species, God created them to adorn the sky.
It’s been believed for more than a decade that the scientists had only discovered 5% of the ocean. Within that 5% we can find numerous creatures swarming in the waters. Some of them are the fishes we know, swimming freely in the sea. Many more lie on the seabed, decorating the plain beneath the waves. What about the 95% of the world that lies beneath us? We could only imagine it. Is it beautiful? Are there mermaids or some humanoid creatures down below? What about big fishes and sea monsters? Are there tropical forests, maybe? We don’t know. But we know that God created them. If He created the beauty of the world only for human pleasure then why did God limit human from exploring the waters? What are they for?
“The LORD has made everything for its purpose,” Proverbs 16:4 says. And everything is from Him and through Him and to Him (Rm 11:36). We may not be able to discover all the sky voyagers, let alone the sea kingdoms. But God saw them, and it was good.
They can sing!
Surprising much? Yes! The two secret worlds God created on the fifth day could sing!
When the psalmist wrote the call to worship in Psalm 150, he called upon every creatures to praise the LORD. This call apparently not only to the congregation of the sons and daughters of Israel, but to everything (not only human) across generations.
Apostle John in his revelation in Patmos saw a magnificent scene of worship:
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
Revelation 5:13
“To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”
These creations are created to worship the Lord! The beauty of their existence is not for human to enjoy but to God. We may not be able to hear the big birds sing behind the mountains or to see the ocean dwellers play their melodies to the Lord, but He hears and sees. God saw them and it was good.
The birds in the sky and sea creatures under the waves are created to worship. They may not be seen by us, but in God’s eyes, they are good, beautiful, and have a purpose. Do you ever feel like your life and existence are unseen? God sees you! You are not without meaning and were not created without purpose. God created you beautifully and wonderfully, with a purpose to worship Him. Maranatha!
Thank you for reading this article, I hope you feel blessed as I do! I would be glad to hear your story about God and all His goodness. I am currently getting back on my track to write weekly post (hopefully more in the future). Let’s connect and so I could hear your story too about the goodness of God!
