Hi there! Did you read the previous post I wrote last time? If you haven’t then I recommend you to do so, because this post is the continuation of the findings I want to share about the reasons to worship the Lord found in the account of creation. Previously, I shared about God’s revelation as the Creator, everlasting, and sovereign God. Not only that, but I also found how God has revealed Himself as a Savior from before the beginning of the world. This time, I‘d like to invite you all together in our study of God’s revelation through the account of creation.
When we know who God is, we’ll do nothing but worship. The six-day of God’s work creating this earth was the first thing we could look up to learn about Him. God is the creator, we all know that, but is there anything more about Him that creates? Let’s turn our Bible to Genesis 1:3-5.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
God is the Initiator
The verses in the ESV translation start with three words: “And God said …” I’m sure this was not the first time God ever spoke, but these three words marked the beginning of a whole new chapter in the world we know. It all started with God because God is the initiator. God had the idea of creating the world and He put the act into it.
In His wisdom, God thought of the whole order of creation and then spoke it into existence. This understanding encourages me to continue my work and ministry by thinking through everything thoroughly and carefully in the field the Lord has put me in. It is my worship that follows God’s initiative thoughts in creating the universe, and if I ever lack of wisdom, God has given His promise,
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
James 1:5
God is the Executor
The word of God makes things happen, as the apostle John wrote in his gospel chapter one verse one, “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.” We could see that this word of God that by it everything is made is God Himself. Does it make sense to you? God is not only the initiator, He is also the executor of His plan. The first and foremost example of walking the talk is God Himself. So if we want to follow Him, we must do so to walk what we preach! For God creates as He speaks.
For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm. Psalm 33:9
Without us, God can do all things by and for Himself. The creation of the universe was planned and executed by God, leaving us with no room to contribute. However, by His mercy, He grants us to take a part in His works by doing His will. Therefore, it is a blessing for us to serve because He has first served us. Our act of worship is not because we want anything from Him, but because He has granted us all things.
God is Powerful
God’s word holds immense power that created the universe. The word of God started the world. The word of God created this earth and everything in it. The word of God is God Himself (John 1:1). The word of God was there before the beginning of the world, the word was with God and the Word was God, says the Bible.
All things were (and are) made through the Word of God (John 1:3), and we have faith that the Word of God has become flesh and came in the midst of us through Jesus Christ our God. This note by Apostle John reveals to us the mystery of the Creator since the beginning of creation that God is Jesus.
God is Jesus
Jesus is the image of the invisible God (Col 1:15) and by His revelation, through Him we come to know God. The power He shows that separated the light and the dark is the same power that guides us who believe in His lordship. Who has the authority of the heaven and the earth other than God Himself? And if we believe that Him, who said that the authority of the heaven and the earth, is the Lord, we will go and preach and teach people to come and know and do the will of Him. And the promise is given to them who do so, that this God of the heaven and earth will be with them until the end of age.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
God is the Ruler
“God saw,” and He judged “That the light was good.” He then separated the light from the darkness. In His supreme power, God made all things work for His divine plans. Even when it’s impossible, like, how could someone separated something that could be seen but could not be touched like the light and the dark? Only God is able, because He is the ruler.
In His authority, God unfolded the universe according to His plans and revealed Himself to us. God created a clear distinction between dark and light and named them night and day. This separation allows us to recognize and appreciate the blessings that God has given. The night that God created allows us to rest, making us ready to face the world in the light of day. All living beings, including plants, animals, and humans, follow the natural order of time, which is regulated by the cycle of night and day that God has established. Because God is the ruler. God rules over the darkness and light.
Knowing that God is the ruler of all, darkness should not scare us, and the light should blind us. Nothing could stop us from living for God and worshipping His name!
Thank you for reading this article, I hope you feel blessed as I do! I would be glad to hear your story about God and all His goodness. I am currently getting back on my track to write weekly post (hopefully more in the future). Let’s connect and so I could hear your story too about the goodness of God!
