On the 2nd day of Christmas, I arranged a one-day Christmas retreat for the junior group in my ministry team. There was a great reminder the Lord revealed to us, it was how the Bible tells us about waiting.
Since man sinned, the Lord told the man and woman to wait for His promise (Gen 3:15). A long wait to the birth of Christ, Christmas marks the new covenant between God and man. It is the ending of the long wait, and also the beginning of the waiting. Christ’s birth, life, death, resurrection, and ascension then start the new waiting phase. A new testament begins for His believers to again, wait for Him to come.
How wonderful is that!

In this instant era, waiting could be boring and frustrating. We often find ourselves scrolling on social media, checking the latest news, or hoping on websites in the hope to get some inspiration or entertainment as we wait. While the 5-minute long wait to cook our instant noodles could be boring, the unmentioned waiting time for the Lord to come should not be boring, because He has equipped those who wait for Him with blessings, hope, and joy to know and to do His will through the Bible.
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:11-13
For this reason, let this season reminds us to grow our faith in God’s words as we are waiting for Him to come. Have a wonderful Christmas and the New Year ahead! Maranatha!
